Photography – Portraits of Significance

Sofia Sandoval, 2025

Sofia Sandoval

Sofia Sandoval (They/Them) is from Albuquerque, NM. They’re in their fourth year at New Mexico State University studying Biochemistry and Museum Conservation with a minor in Psychology. They have aspirations in research and foreign countries.

In their free time, they enjoy a sad guitar, collecting specialty plants, and using their artistic bones to create pretty little things for themself and others.

Sofia is the gentlest, and most attentive person; not a single stray animal is left behind-nor tear left unattended-on their watch.

They have a beautiful soul.

Zarya Martinez, 2025

Zarya Martinez

Zarya Martinez (She/They) grew up in Las Cruces, NM where they are now giving back to their community. She is currently sitting as Vice President for the Latin American Programs at New Mexico State University. It is her first year as Vice President and their junior year double majoring in Psychology and Spanish with a minor in French.

She is the sweetest, most bubbly person you’ll ever meet. Her personal style is something you’ll never forget.

The program aims to serve Latiné students from all ethnic and racial backgrounds by building welcoming community spaces and educating students in histories, cultures, and social justice.
